K.-36 17-2276 Ratification by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Development Without Limits West, Oakland, CA, for the latter to provide 38 hours of professional development and technical assistance to District afterschool program staff to help them better serve and meet the socioeconomic and linguistic needs of English Learners, Grades K-12; provide a sustainable approach for afterschool programs to continue to implement practices that support English Learning and address needs in future years by creating a Guide with strategies for programs to include a combination of research-based practices, practical strategies, activity examples, and tips for addressing the wide range of needs, including English Language Development, supporting cultural identity, address the Socio-Emotional needs of English Learners and Meaningful Family Engagement; and facilitate a one-day training for all afterschool program staff on English Learning Guide for Afterschool Programs, via the English Language Learners and Multilingual Achievement Office, for the period of September 1, 2017 through June 1, 2018, in an amount not to exceed $9,000.00.
