16-1168 Approval by the Board of Education of a Professional Services Contract between the District and Girls Incorporated of Alameda County, Oakland, CA, for the latter to launch a project for a 4-hour Early Learning/Early Literacy Institute open to any after school program staff working with students in grades TK­-3; facilitate a total of six Early Literacy Learning Community Sessions for program staff of up to 12 elementary afterschool sites; in winter/early spring conduct on-site coaching sessions to observe and provide feedback to afterschool staff who are implementing afterschool literacy curriculum; in spring, provide training and technical assistance to participating programs on how to get organized an effect family literacy night; provide high-quality children's books to participating programs for distribution to students to promote home libraries and reading at home; and evaluate efforts of the project, via the Community Schools and Student Services Department, for the term October 5, 2015 through June 30, 2016, in an amount not to exceed $26,000.00.
